INTRODUCTION: It all started as an idea…
For many years, Truffles in Africa have been overlooked. We want to change that narrative and introduce you to the golden taste of Africa!
Today, Kalahari Truffles (Pty) Ltd remains a family owned, and operated business and the company continues to grow with the spirit of integrity and family values upon which it’s foundation is laid on.
DESCRIPTION: Kalaharituber is a fungal genus in the family Pezizaceae. It is a monotypic genus, whose single truffle-like species, Kalaharituber Pfeiler, is found in the Kalahari Desert, which spans the larger part of Botswana, the east of Namibia and the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. Kalahari truffles have a smooth brown skin like a small round potato. Like the French truffle, which is always found near the roots of oaks, the Kalahari truffle has a symbiotic relationship with a plant — the desert melon.
